Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
At The Motiv8 School, we are dedicated to supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential. We specialise in working with learners who may have experienced barriers to education, including those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), ADHD, autism, speech and language needs, learning differences and those who may have previously struggled to engage in mainstream settings.
Our personalised, nurturing environment provides the structure, support and relationships our learners need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Our Approach
We believe every young person deserves:
– To feel safe, respected and understood
– A personalised curriculum that meets their needs
– Skilled adults who believe in them and support them to succeed
– Opportunities to build confidence, independence and future pathways
Our SEND approach is:
– Trauma informed
– Relationship-based
– Positive Behaviour Support focused
– Strength-based and inclusive
– Grounded in safeguarding and wellbeing
– Aspirational for every learner
We work closely with students, families and external agencies to ensure the right support is in place, guided by Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning profiles.
What Support Looks Like
Learners benefit from:
– Small class sizes and high staff ratios
– Individualised learning plans and targets
– Literacy and numeracy intervention programmes (including Toe-by-Toe & Functional Skills pathways)
– Specialist vocational qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds Welding & Fabrication)
– SEMH support and emotional regulation strategies
– Mental health and wellbeing focus
– Access to external specialists where required
– A safe, structured and consistent environment
We meet learners where they are and help them take the next steps with confidence.
Curriculum & Outcomes
Our curriculum is designed to:
– Build essential academic skills
– Develop communication, resilience and life skills
– Prepare pupils for adulthood, work and further education
– Support careers and progression routes with guidance and experiences
We offer pathways including Functional Skills (Entry Level–Level 2), vocational learning and work-related skills, helping young people secure college places, apprenticeships or employment routes.
Working Together
We value strong relationships with families and carers, keeping communication open and supportive at all times. We believe success comes from partnership—school, home and the young person working together.
