Careers Education, Information, Advice & Guidance (CEIAG)

At The Motiv8 School, we are committed to delivering a comprehensive and inclusive Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG) programme that supports the ambitions of all our learners, particularly those with SEND. Our careers provision focuses on helping learners explore their strengths, interests, and future opportunities especially in skilled trades, functional skills, and wider employment pathways.

• One-to-one personalised careers interviews with our Careers Advisor.
• Group sessions and practical workshops covering job applications, workplace expectations, and essential employability skills.
• Industry talks and employer visits to introduce learners to potential career pathways.
• Experiential learning both in and outside of school to develop confidence, independence, and transferable skills.
• Integration of CEIAG into BTEC Workskills and PSHE lessons to raise awareness of post-16 choices.
• Access to online careers platforms for researching opportunities and creating strong applications for college, apprenticeships, or employment.

We understand that transitioning beyond school can be a significant step for our learners, and we provide dedicated support to ensure a smooth and successful move into further education, training, or employment. Our transition support includes:

• One-to-one transition planning to explore suitable post-16 options.
• Supported visits to colleges, training providers, and employers to help learners make informed decisions.
• Application and interview support for apprenticeships, college placements, and employment.
• Collaboration with external agencies and support services to provide additional guidance where needed.

We work closely with learners, parents, and external organisations to ensure that each young person moves forward with confidence and the right level of support.

We regularly assess the impact of our CEIAG programme to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and engaging. This includes gathering pupil feedback, tracking post-school destinations, and working closely with employers and training providers. Our goal is to continuously refine our approach so that every pupil receives meaningful and personalised support

Our CEIAG programme is guided by the Gatsby Benchmarks to ensure high standards of practice, providing learners with quality encounters with employers, real-world experiences, personalised guidance, and Links to curriculum learning. The Motiv8 School chooses to be guided by them as a framework for excellence in CEIAG. We believe these benchmarks represent best practice and help ensure that our learners receive a rich, varied, and effective careers programme.

• Ensuring learners experience workplaces first-hand through visits, projects, and work-related activities.
• Offering impartial, personalised careers guidance from a qualified advisor.
• Equipping learners with the information and skills they need to make informed decisions about their future.

At The Motiv8 School, we are proud to work closely with local organisations to provide meaningful opportunities that prepare our students for life beyond school.

We have a partnership with Fulcrum Scaffold Safety & Training, enabling students to complete a PETS (Pre-Employment Training Scheme) course. This programme provides the essential skills, knowledge, and certification needed for entry into the Scaffolding industry. It covers health and safety regulations, scaffold assembly and dismantling, correct use of tools and PPE, practical training, and emergency procedures. Successful completion awards the GQA Level 1 Health & Safety certificate, GQA/CSCS Card, and CISRS COTS Labourers Card, offering a strong foundation for a career in scaffolding.

We also collaborate with the City of Liverpool College. This partnership includes college visits and guest speaker sessions at The Motiv8 School, offering students a valuable insight into further education. Through this link, learners may explore apprenticeship pathways such as Welding and Fabrication, as well as a wider range of post-16 courses available at the college.
